3 strategies to help you reset for the rest of 2019

It’s time to reset your course so you finish 2019 well!

Because unless you stop and consciously choose the direction you’re heading in, everything and anything will look like something that needs your attention, energy and focus!

And that’s likely to be exhausting, frustrating and stressful too!

Resetting is all about answering two important questions:

1. What's your intention - how do you want to feel and how will you be?

2. What priorities or goals will you give your attention, energy and focus to?

But stopping to answer those questions is just another thing to do, right? And you’re already busy. When are you supposed to find the time!

I could tell you until I’m blue in the face how important it is to stop and answer those questions but that won’t help. Why? Well, because you’ve got to want to do it.

For me, committing time to reset is a PRIORITY because I know how precious life is. I’ve faced two serious health challenges in my life and both times was told I might die. I realised I’d simply been reacting to whatever came along rather than consciously choosing what I gave my attention, energy and focus too. I felt unfulfilled and stressed.

Life is to be lived well now.

So many people go through life waiting until some magical time in the future where everything will be perfect and all the ducks will have lined up. But here’s the thing … for those ducks to line up, one duck needs to make a decision to move so the other ducks follow.

Stop waiting. Take purposeful action now!

3 strategies to help you reset

Tip # 1 - Decide to do it!

If only you had more hours in the day and then maybe you’d give it a go. Or maybe not!

Because more hours would probably just mean an opportunity to do more work, give yourself more of a hard time about what you’re not getting done, and to be more stressed!

Simply DECIDE to do the reset work and follow through.

Tip # 2 - Commit the time

If you're thinking this work will take hours or days then you're right, it will because that's what you're telling yourself. But it could also be done in 30 minutes if that's all you've got available now.

Set the time period you're prepared to give this work and then commit to doing it!

Grab yourself a cuppa, head to your favourite spot and get comfy. Oh, and if you've got the 2019 Live Well Planner, remember to grab that too! You can do the whole review, reflect, release and reset process in it.

And if you don't have the Planner, grab a piece of paper or your journal.

Tip # 3 - It's about what matters to you

There are no right or wrong answers when it comes to resetting. Honestly, I don't have a marking guide with pre-set responses that you need to write down.

So go ahead and give yourself FULL PERMISSION to focus on what matters to you.  It's about what YOU want and need. Not anyone or everyone else!

And just to clarify, if you have children or people who depend on you, of course, you'll take into account your role in providing support but remember you matter too!

This is YOUR life to live well. But having spent years being and doing what I thought I *should*, I know how hard it can be to figure out what's 'right' for you. So if you're struggling with this work - if you're running up against resistance - then breathe. Do what you need to do to be as relaxed as possible and then explore those two key questions:

1. What's your intention - how do you want to feel and how will you be?

2. What priorities or goals will you give your attention, energy and focus to?

The back end of the year always seems to fly by faster, so you know Christmas will be here quick-smart! Give yourself permission to reset your course for the rest of the year.
