Recently I reviewed some job applications on behalf of a client. I was really surprised by the cover letters! Some people didn't provide a letter and of the letters that did come in, none of them inspired me to want to read the accompanying CVs.

It's one thing to notice what others are doing but it often goes beyond just observing to a place where we start to judge ourselves. We tell ourselves stories about how much better the other person is, that they're perfect and have the perfect life, and on it goes. But it is possible to skip the judgement and model what others are doing to achieve our dreams and goals.

Every day we’re faced with a seemingly never-ending stream of decisions. From what you’re going to eat for breakfast and wear to school or work, right through to bigger decisions about life, relationships, health, finances, work and so on. All of your decisions have consequences. Some will serve you and some won’t. Some will have a greater impact, either positive or negative, than you or I might realise. There's the obvious tangible, graspable outcome and then the unseen, but oh-so important, impact on your energy.

I know, sigh groan, it's so cliche to say something is the new black, but when it's true, well it's true. We're living in a world where the pace of life seems to be speeding up (seriously, can it go any faster!), the number of distractions and demands is growing exponentially, and fun and laughter seems to be taking a back seat. Arrgh, something needs to change, now.
